FIRST VEHICLE MANAGEMENT

What We Do

Explore the questions behind vehicle sourcing, finance arrangements, contract hire and fleet planning.

Choosing a vehicle starts with its purpose. A private driver, a delivery business and a company running several pool vehicles may need very different specifications and funding arrangements. The following topics provide a framework for discussing those needs without treating one product as the answer to every situation.

Vehicle sourcing

Write down the essential specification, acceptable alternatives and evidence needed before comparing listings. Condition, history and the seller's description should be checked for the individual vehicle.

Prepare a sourcing brief

Hire purchase and PCP

Compare the deposit, regular payments, contract length, total payable and end-of-agreement choices. A monthly payment is only one part of the commitment; ask for the complete written illustration.

Understand the comparison

Contract hire

Define intended mileage and use, the hire period, maintenance responsibilities and return conditions. Ask how changes to your requirements would be handled during the agreement.

Questions for a provider

Fleet management

Look at the work each vehicle performs, who uses it, when it is unavailable and how replacement decisions are made. A useful plan connects those facts to a consistent operating budget.

Build a fleet planning checklist

Finance lease and short-term hire

When discussing a lease, ask the provider to explain ownership, payment structure, maintenance obligations and the position at the end of the agreement. Do not assume the words lease and hire describe identical terms.

Short-term hire can address a temporary requirement. Record the dates, driver requirements, load or passenger needs, collection arrangements and the effect of an extension. Confirm the actual offer directly with the provider rather than relying on a general description.

A consistent comparison

Use the same specification and expected usage when comparing proposals. Record differences instead of silently treating them as equivalent. Keep optional equipment, service packages, delivery and other additions visible so that the comparison can be explained later.
